FAQs
Comprehensive Answers
Do you accept insurance?
I do not accept any type of insurance. This is to reduce the amount of paperwork and hassle for clients and myself and to ensure my ability to maintain the strictest confidentiality. I can provide a super-bill, or receipt, that you may submit to your insurance for out-of-network reimbursement.
Do you prescribe medications?
I prescribe medications when appropriate. There are situations where medications are helpful, situations where counseling is helpful and situations where both might be beneficial. I always take into account client's own preferences and desired treatment modality.
Do you prescribe controlled substances?
I do not prescribe pain medications, as pain management is out of my scope of practice. I will consider prescribing stimulant medications or benzodiazepines on a case-by-case basis.
Why do all clients need a psychiatric evaluation prior to receiving any other services?
Even if you have had an evaluation by another psychiatrist and are already on medications, the standard of practice for psychiatrists is to provide a full evaluation of all new patients to their practice.
Why are your testimonials silly?
Because it's fun! Besides, testimonials are a bit silly, when you stop to think about it. You don't really know who wrote the testimonial and whether they are genuine. It all seems meaningless and potentially misleading, so instead I decided to just have some fun with Gordon!
